5 Vegan Restaurants to visit in Lisbon

The concept is simple: to not consume anything of animal origin and respect nature. If you're vegan, vegetarian or simply curious, these are our suggestions for vegan-friendly places to visit in the capital.

Legumi

In this Lisbon's new sushi restaurant there's no room for fish. Prepared by the sushimen Leonardo Lattari and Kelly Oliveira, the sushi in this new place is 100% vegan. Leonardo Lattari combines over 40 vegetables in the preparation of his dishes, and here you can find various types of sushi (all created exclusively with vegetables).

Legumi already has two restaurants in the capital, one of which is part of the newly opened Mercearia do Abade, which also has several organic products, and besides the market it also has a coffee shop and a restaurant. Until December, dinners were only served on Fridays and Saturdays, but from January the schedule was extended and lunches are served during the week and dinners are also served on Thursdays. Why waiting to try it out?

O Antigo Talho

Ironically, in this new vegan place there used to be a butcher shop, but today there's no room for meat. Founded by the Portuguese TV presenter João Manzarra, this place has two floors, in the ground floor there's a store dedicated to sustainable products, and on the first floor, a vegan café and restaurant.

The conversion of the old place into a restaurant and store resulted in an appealing design that invites entrance. Providing lunch menus during the week, with different deserts each day, and brunch options at weekends, at Antigo Talho everything is organic, sustainable and vegan.

If you're looking for accessories, clothing, everyday objects or even sustainable cosmetic products, this is the right place for you. Here, you'll find several products, from around the world, all based on sustainability.

In Bocca Al Lupo

Although not exclusively vegan, this restaurant and pizzeria offers several options, from vegan to vegetarian, through organic and even gluten-free products. The concept of this pizzeria is sustainability and the union between tasty and healthy food.

Here you'll find meals prepared with the best organic products and fresh ingredients, an excellent selection of organic Portuguese wines, as well as a wide range of coffee and teas from around the world. At In Bocca Al Lupo, care with nature extends to the also ecological cleaning products, and even the use of plastic is regulated.

In Bocca Al Lupo is an expression used to wish someone good luck before embracing a challenge, and we challenge you to try it, into the mouth of the wolf.

My Mother’s Daughters

Lisbon's new biological café deserves its name. It's a family space, by a mother and her three daughters. Here, the concept is sustainability, healthy food, recycling and respect for Mother Nature. There's no room here for animal origin products.

At My Mother’s Daughters, the products you consume will be fresh and organic and almost everything is reused, sustainable and biological. Some dishes are even made with the leftovers of the previous day to promote reuse and reduce waste. Of seasonal nature, the menu will change every three months, and it offers a wide range of suggestions. At lunch, you can accompany your dish with smoothies, organic teas and natural juices. The hardest task will be choosing.

The concern for sustainability is still present in the decoration of the place. Everything was done using sustainable sources, creating a clean environment that will certainly make you want to return.

Juicy

Everything is plant-based, there's no room for meat or fish and the whole menu is vegan, except for some vegetarian dishes. At Juicy the highlight is for the juicy flat bread (wholemeal flat bread that you can stuff at taste) but also for salads and healthy bowls, that can be accompanied by fresh juices, teas or smoothies. The menu is all plant-based, the ingredients are fresh, organic and locally produced, and the practices and habits are eco-friendly, to decrease the ecological footprint.

As you also eat with your eyes, in this place the environment is tropical, colorful and appealing. There is also room for music here, and at the end of the afternoon there are live DJs, creating a moment of relaxation that you can water with an organic alcoholic cocktail.

The irreverent Juicy also offers catering and take-away services.
