Rocha de Conde de Óbidos Viewpoint
If you’re looking for a good excuse to take a cultural tour, we suggest you escape Lisbon’s typical tourist trails and search for spots that are still under the radar. One example is the Rocha do Conde de Óbidos viewpoint, which is located opposite the port and next to the “Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga” (“National Museum of Ancient Art”.) So, do you like our excuse?
In addition to the cultural part, this viewpoint is surrounded by a very diverse fauna and flora that contrasts, in the purest natural form, with the harmonious set of buildings that surround it. Among them are the National Museum of Ancient Art and the Óbidos-Sabugal Palace – current headquarters of the Portuguese Red Cross.
The Rocha do Conde de Óbidos viewpoint conquers and appeals with its simplicity, as well as with the view over the commercial harbor area, the Tejo River, the 25 de Abril Bridge and the Christ the King statue.
Cool Tip: this viewpoint is the best place to photograph the Tejo and the hustle and bustle of the Rocha Conde de Óbidos pier, especially in the evening, when the sun sets at Almada’s highest point.
