Loja das Conservas
From the North to the South of Portugal, including the islands, the Loja das Conservas (House of Canned Goods) takes us on a deliciously colorful journey. This place is the perfect example that canned fish is cool, and it is apparent that the demand matches what is offered. You can choose from over 300 types of canned fish and there is something for everyone and in all price ranges.
The most popular canned fish is sardines, as well as their famous roe, both of which led Portugal across long distances, where it is appreciated in the 4 corners of the world. Besides the famous sardine, you can also find tuna, eel, Ray's bream, mackerel and horse mackerel.
The brands of canned goods represented here from the north to the south of the country, as well as the islands, include: Belamar, Briosa, Cofisa, Comur, Conserveira do Sul, ESIP, La Gondola, Luças, Marina, Pinhais, Portugal Norte, Poveira, Ramirez, Freitas Mar and Vianapesca.
The history of these canning factories and brands is harmoniously displayed along the walls of the store, where you can learn about the origins and evolution of these products, all beautifully presented.
Every day, people from all around the world come through here, especially visitors from Japan, because not only are Portuguese preserves highly acclaimed, there is also a strong connection to a common industry in both countries.
This is a place that deserves a visit, but we leave a warning: it is impossible to leave here without at least one can!
