CHIcoração - Woollen Heart of Portugal

Reviving the Portuguese Tradition

At a time of a crisis in the textile sector, the first CHIcoração store was born, a family brand that has been selling wool since the 1980s. Thus, began its fascinating history in the Chiado.

CHIcoração is proud of its journey - and we understand why. The brand began by restoring traditional looms and machines (from closed companies) and revived the old local production techniques. Then, it invested in 100% Portuguese and handmade production to guarantee the excellent quality of its products. Furthermore, CHIcoração keeps track of the whole process - from collecting the wool from the farmer to the final result.

Today, there are five stores in Lisbon and they also sell online, all over the world. The production center is located in Serra de Mira de Aire, where people with ancient knowledge work, and the youngest are encouraged to learn - we recommend you to schedule a visit, here, you will be able to closely know the magic of Portuguese tradition happening.

On our visit to the CHIcoração stores in Rua Augusto Rosa, in the heart of Alfama, we were amazed by the diversity of products, all resulting from raw materials, such as wool, cotton, linen, and silk. Garments, accessories, blankets, pillows, or even dolls (which have stolen our heart), are some of the products you will discover here. There is no lack of colour or variety of fabrics and patterns, so, if you allow us to give you an advice, know you will always find the perfect present for someone close to your heart in this place.

Apart from preserving the Portuguese customs and traditions, CHIcoração safeguards the environment and the planet that we live in, as well. The brand works only with 100% natural raw materials, transforms the fabric into new products, and produces recycled yarn through the remaining materials.

There are so many reasons to visit such a characteristic place that breathes Portugal!

Cool Tip: If you choose to visit the store in Rua do Terreiro do Trigo, continue your journey through the Portuguese history and tradition at Museu do Fado.
