One of the most central spots in Lisbon, maybe even in Europe, Avenida da Liberdade presents us AVENUE, a gracious restaurant with a rustic Portuguese cuisine that mirrors its own image – elegant and reinterpreted.
From north to south, from the convents to the sea, from the garden to the country, the dishes created by Chef Marlene Vieira are naturally Portuguese, come from all regions, and are always presented with a modern twist and a visible fondness for Portuguese cuisine.
We tasted and recommend the “peixinhos da horta” (“little garden fish”) with coriander mayonnaise, a delicious starter; smoked sausage with poached egg and field leaves; codfish chips with tempura, pennyroyal, tomato and orange mayonnaise; Bairrada suckling pig; codfish loin confit with corn bread crumble and mashed chickpeas; braised octopus with mashed potato, fried peels, rapini and olives. Finally, it was impossible to not go up north and try the famous Abade de Priscos pudding with basil ice cream and fruits in syrup, which corresponded beautifully to the traditional recipe, especially in texture, as well as our very own custard tart!
At the restaurant’s enoteca, you can choose from more than 300 different wines. Enjoy the bar, indulge in the restaurant, because for now the price is friendly, something we cannot guarantee in the near future.
