The Janelas Verdes (“Green Windows”) hotel, located on the street with the same name, is a boutique hotel that will surely be your second home in Lisbon.
Affectionately dubbed as simply “Janelas” ("Windows") by Ms. Palmira, housekeeper since forever, Janelas Verdes thrives on stories, stories from the past that lead us on a journey through romanticism.

The hotel is in a building which is actually a small palace that dates back to the 18th century and, if their walls could speak, they would tell countless stories. One of the most important one is the story surrounding writer Eça de Queirós – the story goes that it was here that he began writing his most iconic work, “Os Maias”.

At Janelas Verdes, each guest creates his own story in one of the 29 existing rooms. The rooms named Eça are the larger ones; the rooms named Tejo have a delicate view of the river; the Bairro rooms face the crossroad.

A stay in Janelas Verdes is not complete without a visit to the lovely patio, whose walls are covered with cool green vines, enveloping us in a romantic and poetic aura that only these “Windows” can create.
