Loja da Burel

the portuguese fabric

The Loja da Burel (Sackcloth Store) brings a bit of the mountains to the center of Lisbon.

With a 100% wool composition, sackcloth is a traditional Portuguese fabric, originally used by shepherds in the creation of their capes. Today, and thanks to the vision of Isabel Costa and João Tomás, who recovered the sackcloth factory, this fabric is recreated and incorporated into fashion accessories, furniture, decorative items, stationary and even on the walls of several architectural works.

Since it is a fabric full of qualities, such as resistance and impermeability, the Loja da Burel joins forces with designers, artists and other creatives, in search of new applications and perspectives for sackcloth.

That is to say that if you’re looking for a piece that harmoniously blends tradition and modernity, the Loja da Burel, in Chiado, is the place to visit.
