Open from April to October, Biergarten - Beer Garden is an icon of Cascais, and it is no coincidence that, year after year, it continues to amaze those who are looking for a special place for a meal, a drink with friends or a moment of snacks and conversations.
Here German culture is celebrated, with a special emphasis on typical dishes and a variety of beers. Although the menu is very diversified, with toasts, hamburgers, salads and dishes for sharing, Biergarten Cascais wins by the menu exclusively dedicated to German specialties.
Among all the dishes, we find sausages (and we tried three: currywurst, bratwurst, weisswurst, served with curry sauce, sauerkraut, and fries), the famous schnitzel (breaded pork chops very popular in Germany), and the Schweinshaxe Hax'N (oven-roasted pork knee, also served with sauerkraut and fries). As for the drinks, even though there is a bit of everything, to please everyone, beer is the star of the house. We accompanied our meal with a traditional Franziskaner Weissbier and can say that it was a wise choice, but the possibilities are immense.
When it comes to desserts, Portugal and Germany come together to present the best of each country. Thus, it is possible to eat the classic apfelstrudel (a type of apple pie) as well as choose to finish the meal with the Portuguese pudding Abade de Priscos.
At Lisboa Cool we are always looking for places that provide genuine experiences, and we can say that at Biergarten we are easily taken on a journey to Germany. The space, with an almost covered terrace and a large indoor room with references to the highlighted country, is cozy and friendly, inviting us to stay in conversation with those who accompany us. And, thanks to its extended hours, Beer Garden may well be the winning choice for an after-hours lunch during the warmer months.
