by Ishtar Bakhtali
In this workshop we will experience how sound can influence our well-being and we will look at the origin of Indian Classical Music.
After warming up the voice in the traditional way of Dhrupad (Karaj) we will study a composition from this North Indian music style. Next to looking at what a raga is and which ornamentations are used in the one we will learn we also spend time on ‘Tala’ (Rhythm) and ‘Konnakol’.
This workshop is open to all as this style of singing could be seen as a new language to Western musicians and non-musicians alike.
