Santo Estêvão Viewpoint

a quiet and wonderful place

Looking for the perfect place to rest after an intense walk through Alfama’s historic stairways and alleys? Go to Santo Estêvão Square! This is where you can relax while enjoying an excellent panoramic view of the Tejo River and Lisbon-style houses.

On the Santo Estêvão Square, you’ll find a viewpoint that is a hidden treasure in the heart of Lisbon’s most authentic district. In addition to admiring the view, you’ll find the Santo Estêvão Church right next to the lookout – classified as a National Monument, it was built in the 12th century and rebuilt in 1773 in Baroque style.

The Santo Estêvão viewpoint is, without a doubt, the perfect place to rest thanks to its peaceful atmosphere, but also a great spot to admire the city from high above. Being in Lisbon has never been so quiet, so lovely!

Cool Tip: the Santo Estêvão viewpoint offers a fantastic perspective of Lisbon’s very characteristic houses, as well as the Tejo River. The view from the top of the lookout is even more impressive on sunny days, when the reflections illuminate the landscape, making it even more fascinating.
